Science vs. Faith
Fact or fiction
Many Christians in the Netherlands have jobs in technology, healthcare, or education. We work for the government, businesses, and societal organizations. We are (perhaps) thoroughly educated and know the ropes in this world: we know how ‘things simply work.’.
In addition, we try to bring our faith and our daily lives together. Sometimes that works fine, but it can also cause problems, especially when it comes to care.
The easiest way is to separate the matters. After all, aren't scientific insights ‘proven’? God cannot be proven, and faith must remain within the domain of the church and religion. Difficult care situations are outsourced by the church to mental health care (GGZ), and sometimes we consider biblical ideas, such as demon possession, as outdated and quackery. We can also choose the other extreme by labeling all scientific insights as nonsense. We don't go to the doctor, but we pray. Because otherwise, there is something wrong with our faith...
Is this contradiction justified? How do we deal with this?
We have found two speakers willing to guide us through these questions: John Baak, general practitioner, and Peter Dijkstra, director of Cleansing Stream Netherlands.

John Baak is a general practitioner with a practice in Kesteren. John is very aware of the influence of the unseen world and practically embodies his Christian faith. He is an international speaker in churches and at conferences.
Peter Dijkstra
Discipleship, Deliverance, and Spiritual Well-being in the Church
Peter Dijkstra is the leader of Cleansing Stream Netherlands, an interdenominational discipleship ministry. Peter has worked for many years as a drug and alcohol prevention officer at the Voorkom Foundation. He is the author of the book ‘Falling and Rising Up’.
