Faith
God has decided to save humanity through faith in the gospel of His Son. The gospel is a power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. The cross is also foolishness to this world. Believing what God says leads to restoration, healing, liberation, and transformed lives.
We explicitly choose to believe what God says and to place it above feelings, circumstances, and human wisdom. We recognize that faith heroes in the Bible often had to persevere in faith because they had.
Power
We test ourselves against the word of God, but we do not engage in ‘controversial issues.’ Nor do we approach the gospel as a philosophy or a collection of ‘nice thoughts.’ Preaching the gospel and everything related to it (eternal salvation, as well as healing and deliverance in this time) is accompanied by power. This means that it will lead to the moral strength to make choices for God and His principles, but also to manifestations of power through which people will be delivered and restored. Power should be noticeably present when the gospel and what relates to it is preached. We know that in everything we do, we are dependent on God. God works in and through us by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, in obedience, we strive for love and the spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit. We then give Him room to determine the direction and do what He wants. |
God is the Creator of heaven and earth. Humans are made in the image of God and each person represents a part of Him. He made humans as male and female in great diversity. For this reason, we stand for a culture of freedom in which this diversity can express itself. Freedom goes hand in hand with responsibility. Human freedom is limited by the freedom of others. God Himself is THE Creator. God speaks the language of all people. Within Crossing Point, we seek creativity to share the message of the gospel in all sorts of ways. God's thinking is higher than our thinking, and God's foolishness is wiser than the wisdom of men. This means that God can do as He pleases, even if it transcends our understanding or our criterion of wise or foolish. We want to go along with what He wants. God took the ‘risk’ of making us in His image. He gives us space to make choices and also to make mistakes. Within Crossing Point, we also want to use and give space. Therefore, we also dare to take risks and make mistakes. This freedom also goes hand in hand with taking responsibility when things have gone wrong. |
Joy
Joy and happiness have been shown to us by the Lord Jesus. God takes care of us and is faithful. His faithfulness and love are also evident in the things He does in our lives. He encourages us to be glad in who He is and what He does. He is the author and finisher of our faith. Within Crossing Point, we want to foster a culture of faith. We want to ‘celebrate’ what God does and be happy about the big and small things He does in people's lives. This means we make room for testimonies that give hope. We can also enjoy everything He gives us as our Father. Humor and joy are given ample space in this ministry.
Peace
At Crossing Point, we strive for peace. The presence of the Prince of Peace Himself will bring peace, and in all that we do, we try to represent Him. Peace goes hand in hand with righteousness and justice. Peace and conflicts are not contradictory as long as they are resolved in love.
God doesn't set ‘order’ against ‘disorder.’ This means that God's criteria for what is ‘neat’ and ‘proper’ may be different from ours. Apparently, peace is the correct measure. Therefore, within Crossing Point, we will not strive for very rigid structures and methods, but for the presence of the Prince of Peace Himself.
Love
God has chosen us in love. God loves people and wants us to love Him, others, and ourselves. This means that in everything we will strive to show love and approach people in accordance with how God sees them. We will always be looking for the destiny God has for people and will seek to cultivate that. We believe it is important that people are honored (not worshipped) for who they are, what God sees in them and has put into them, and in what they do. This means we will focus on this. People are precious and valuable. This means we will treat them in a way that reflects this. We strive for a culture where we encourage, compliment, and cheer each other on. We consider it important to pay attention to the weak and strengthen them. We see this as an act of worship of their Maker.
